When worked slowed down this summer, support staff at the Winona County DAC became creative. This 4th of July the Winona County DAC held its 1st Annual Mr. and Miss. DAC pageant. Individuals participating at the DAC were asked if they wanted to have a pageant. Many said "yes" so the event planning began. Individuals where asked if they wanted to participate and if they said "yes", they were asked how they wanted to help out or be part of the pageant.
Individuals were able to use their skills and talents in planning the pageant, decorating, making the sashes, making and decorating the crown and tiara, and participating in the pageant as a contestant. Contestants were asked to choose something to do for talent, dress up, and be prepared to answer a few questions.
This event was one enjoyed by individuals participating at the DAC and staff. Almost everyone got involved one way or another from bringing in old prom and wedding dresses, bringing in ties for the gentlemen to decorating and painting the crown and tiara.
There were about 12 ladies and 9 gentlemen who chose to participate as contestants. Contestants did a variety of activities for talent such as singing, dancing, re-arranging furniture and demonstrating their hard working in getting up out of a chair and standing.
In addition to having winners of the Mr. & Miss DAC Pageant, there was also a Mr. & Miss Congeniality award given out. Participants and helpers all enjoyed this event.
