For an individual with issues regarding Seizures, ABLE has developed a very thorough protocol to follow for someone they serve who has a very serious seizure disorder. He goes through periods of time where he refuses medications and his right to refuse medications is respected. The people who work with him believe that he understands both his right to refuse medications and also the consequences of that decision.

His team has worked o­n fine tuning the protocol and made changes in it as necessary. His protocol does include a standing order for medications that are administered rectally if he is having cluster seizures. If this does not work, he is transported to the hospital. Staff has been recognized by hospital staff for the excellent care and support they give him for his seizure disorder.
